MASSAGE AND INJURY REHABILITATION

Here at Shape Your Future Ltd. we pride ourselves on providing the highest quality of sports injury assessment and manual treatment available in our comfortable and relaxing treatment room.

Full body massage has a huge number of physiological benefits to aid the healing process through the whole body, including respiratory and immune systems. Through either deep tissue massage, preparatory or recovery massage or relaxation massage, muscular tension is released, causing a reduction in stress and its knock-on effects, such as depression, sleep deprivation, poor immunity and illness. Massaging improves circulation of the body’s lymph nodes and nutrient rich blood supply, allowing your body to repair and renew.

Massage and injury rehabilitation at SYF is performed by professional and experienced massage therapists Tom, Ewen and Lara, who have vast knowledge and qualifications in manual rehabilitation treatments of common musculoskeletal conditions, including back pain, joint pain, shoulder pain, tennis/golfer’s elbow, pulled muscles and trapped sciatic nerves, often in one session. Sports injury massage is a deep and invigorating therapy that ensures relaxation of tight or over-stressed muscles, joints and ligament injuries sustained when participating in high impact sports.

Through an in-depth analysis of your previous medical history, postural examination and special diagnostic testing using trigger points and mobility exercises, our sports therapists are able to assess and treat minor and major injuries and prevent future injury re-occurrence. Alongside manual interventions, our trusted rehabilitation process can help people suffering from pain, injury or illness involving the musculoskeletal system. Rehabilitation helps people of all ages to maintain their health and fitness, recover from and prevent injury and reduce pain using exercise, movement and manual therapy techniques.

Traditional Massage

Traditional Massage Deep Tissue Sports Massage

At SYF we offer three types of traditional massage: Deep Tissue Sports Massage, Pre/Post Competition Massage and Relaxation Massage:

Deep Tissue Sports Massage can aid in injury rehabilitation. Sports massage brings about myofascia release, which reduces tissue build up and causes more supple muscle (myo) and skin bands (fascia). Sports massage helps to maintain optimal functional fitness through flixibility of muscles and mobility of the joints, popular with athletes and sportspeople to repair the whole body and ensure continued peak performance.

Pre Competition Massage is based on preparing the muscles for physical exertion and preventing against injury. Post Competition Massage is also focused around the muscles to relieve lactic acid, release tension in tight muscles, aches, pains and muscle spasms. This recovers and repairs the athlete after intense physical activity.

Relaxation Massage reduces and relieves stress and tension on the whole body. The aim of relaxation massage therapy is to relax and energise by releasing muscle energy while improving mobilisation and posture. Other benefits include cellulite reduction as hard fats under the skin are broken down to encourage smoother skin.

At SYF we offer a range of traditional massage techniques:

  • Techniques on offer: Petrissage, Effleurage, Tapotement, Trigger Point Therapy, Stretches, Muscle Energy Techniques (MET), Myofascial Release Technique (MRT) and Soft Tissue Release (STR).
  • Aftercare – In conjunction with the amazing Exorlive database SYF is able to offer a detailed programme of rehabilitation with exercises and stretches and a complete personalised programme sent straight to an App on your phone.
